Dr Madhoo Pavaskar Director, Takshashila Academia of Economic Research
Dr Madhoo Pavaskar, M.Com, LL.B, Ph.D., is Director, Takshashila Academia of Economic Research. His varied and vast experience spans over 50 years of which, 21 years with Tata Economic Consultancy Services from where he retired as Executive Director, six years as Head of Forward Markets Research Cell at Department of Economics, University of Mumbai, and nine years with Forward Markets Commission, Government of India. After his retirement from Tatas, he was an independent consulting economist.
He has authored and published 16 books on such diverse sectors as commodity marketing and futures, transport, communications, services, etc. His research articles and papers published in academic journals number over 100. Dr Pavaskar is a recognized authority in India on economics of commodity futures trading. Dr Pavaskar was editor of the Economic Scene, a monthly journal published by Tata Economic Consultancy Services, from 1976 to 1979.
His in-depth knowledge in the economics of futures trading was also recognized when he was nominated by Secretary-General of UNCTAD, as a member of the "Expert Group on Commodity Futures Markets" during 1994-95. He was also a member of the research team set up by the World Bank for the study of Cotton Marketing in India in 1995-96. He has worked on several committees and study groups, appointed by the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra, from time to time in areas such as tourism, food, edible oils, etc.
He was a director with Bombay Oilseed and Oil Exchange Ltd., (the present Bombay Commodity Exchange) from 1996 to 2001 and has been associated with Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. since its inception and was its Director till 2007, when he resigned to work in an objective and non-partisan manner as Director of TAER, which is an independent company devoted to research and publications.

Dr Nilanjan Ghosh
Senior Vice President, Takshashila Academia of Economic Research Ltd.
Dr. Nilanjan Ghosh is an applied economist and an econometrician by training. He obtained his doctorate from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Prior to joining TAER, he was a faculty member (Assistant Professor) at TERI University, and has also worked at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. His research interests are in the areas of environment economics, commodity economics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
He was involved in various international research and consultancy projects funded by illustrious donors like Swedish Research Council, UNEP (Nairobi), IUCN (Bangkok), and IWMI (Colombo). He has been the Lead Author from Asia-Pacific for the chapter on environmental scenarios in UNEP's flagship project, Global Environmental Outlook 4. He is a Member of the Executive Committee of the Indian Society for Ecological Economics, and had been a core member of Local Organizing Committee of the Biennial Conference of International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE) 2006. He is the Executive Editor of Commodity Vision.

Biswajeet Rath
Biswajeet Rath completed his MPhil from Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) in 1991 and pursued a career in the publishing and print media. As Publishing Head at IIRNS Publications, Nasik (1991-99), he was involved in the planning of various titles for publication and editing of articles received for publication. He was Associate Editor of Numismatic Digest between 1994 and 1999 and Editor of the quarterly newsletter IIRNS Newsline between 1995 and 1999. While at the Institute, Biswajeet participated and presented research papers in three international colloquia (1991, 1994, 1997), and published one monograph and 20 research articles, and also edited a Festschrift. As a Workshop Coordinator, he was involved in various projects, including grants from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, and designing the course structure for the PGDIN course under University of Poona.
As a Senior Editor in the Marg editorial team (1999-2004), Biswajeet was responsible for accepting and vetting articles for the quarterly Marg magazine and its hardcover counterpart, conducting picture research for specific issues of both the magazine and the book, interacting with writers/General Editor, editing articles in four different stages up to the final production, working with the Design and Production team. He also contributed newsletters and book reviews to Marg magazine. As web manager, he maintained and updated the Marg site www.marg-art.org
After a short stint as Project Manager with India Book House (2004-05), Biswajeet diversified into technical content editing for Microsoft courses at Lionbridge Technologies and Sify eLearning (2005-06), where he liaised with a team of writers and defined the content in various stages as per the Chicago Manual of Style/Microsoft Manual of Style for Editors, leading to the final deliverable.
